THE ELDER GODS
An experiments with AI in the VFX pipeline
I created this project to test scene and style consistency across a few of the new AI video tools—Luma, KlingAi and MINIMAX Hailou. Here’s what I found.
Luma Dream Machine: produces incredibly cinematic result which stay true to the source, with minimal prompting. The latest version now has key framing (first and last frame) and improved camera controls through the prompt. On downside, generations are slow, even more so once credits run out.
KlingAi: Offers much more control over camera movement through the interface and also has motion brushes (think Runway’s Gen2), plus it’s fast, with daily free credits. The trade-off, I found I needed more iterations due to glitchy Ai artefacts and noticeable shifts in contrast and lighting.
MINIMAX Hailou: A newer release that’s super fast with a solid free plan. It’s the only one with real-time playback, but it lacks keyframe or motion brush options at the moment. Motion is very impressive and puts out (mostly) great picture quality, though sometimes abit 3d-ish and it’s not as cinematic as Luma
This video uses mainly Luma and Kling, with one Hailou shot (was hard to mix it in due to frame rate and style differences).
